I assumed that the water only runs a little ahead, but then I had to build a lid on the gutter because the water pressure was so high that it sprays over the gutter. Whoever wants the pump for a pond will have fun with it.

The only thing I would like is if you had the option of removing the foam as to where the pump could be stationary, instead of floating. I do fill up the bird bath quite a few times during the day, all the birds love it! Great product!!
