I had this same unit but did not follow the directions as to removing the batteries if not using for a while. The batteries leaked and pressed so hard against the side wall of the unit that they could not be removed. I always use Duracell and it was not the batteries, just way too long in storage. Everything else about this unit is fine and dandy. Although it is recommended for spotting dried pet urine stains I have used, and to great success, for identify rocks that glow under ultraviolet light. Good price, good job. Oh, and make sure to lightly lube the threads of the cap with Vaseline. This helps maintain a watertight seal.
