   I really wanted to digitize some old cassette recordings. I have a few cassette players but they don't have output lines. This was the best solution. Came with a cord for going directly from the cassette player to the USB port of a computer. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use the little CD included to download the software but I had read that it was Audacity so I just downloaded it online. Setup was easy and the transfer from cassette to mp3 onto my computer was a snap!! Thank you!

   It is a bit of a Ghetto way to convert cassettes to mp3's but it works as advertised. Sound is not great but if you are familiar with Audacity and no how to use effects and manipulate sound I am confident you can make it sound pretty good. The process is a little technical but if you follow the directions you should be able to figure it out. I had 4 songs that I recorded on a cassette tape and nowhere else so I need this for that. I am not sure why you would use this otherwise except your own recordings that you would like to digitize.

I was only asked to send them pic of model number on cassette player and pic of my order, they then promptly sent me out a new cassette player.    The player works as advertised even though I originally thought it made the conversion in the unit and you could plug a USB memory stick into the unit and it would be finished. It requires you to use Audacity on a computer. I have a cassette player and tried to make the conversion using Audacity before buying this unit but was not successful. This player has precise instructions to follow on installing and setting up your computer to recognize it and set up Audacity so everything worked the first time. It was worth the price not to have to spend an hour being frustrated trying to do it myself following online helps. The case is pretty inexpensive looking but the unit is fully functional which is what you want. If you are still wondering if this is the right thing for you, take the plunge and give it a try.

   It's the cable that comes with it, not the device, at least in my case. When I plugged the device in, I got the infamous "not recognized" that other people are getting, and I have windows 10. Then I realized, my old PS3 controller has the same adapter/USB cable as this. I switched out the cables and boom, it worked perfectly. So, you may have received a bad adapter. You probably have an identical cable lying around without realizing it. This adapter is often used for cell phones and videogame consoles.So far, it is working great. The Audacity software and tape recorder/converter works great. I can finally immortalize some old tapes into mp3 before they stop working.

This player appeared to be suitable: inexpensive, USB-powered (or 2 AA batteries if you wish), switch-selectable auto-reverse, small footprint, etc.I use it to record spoken tapes, so I cannot speak to the quality of music; probably noise, hiss, etc. are due to the age of the tapes.It has performed flawlessly to date.

   OMG! This little device is awesome. My father made recordings of birthdays and Thanksgiving dinner in 1954 on wire recordings, then in the early 1970's he transferred those recordings to cassette tape. Now I am able to transfer those tapes to CD with this device and give copies to the remaining relatives that were in these early recordings. My sister who was 4 at the time, is now 67, my mother and grandmother who have long since passed but whose voices I can recognize is actually a little eerie to hear these now. Still, I am glad I purchased this device instead of the component one I was considering that over a hundred dollars. Thanks!
