   Was looking for a pet gate that blended with my home a bit better than the standard jail bars styles. I live in a small condo and the transparency of the acrylic keeps the space seemingly more ‘open’. The gate will stay open both ways and can be unlocked by retracting a switch at the top while lifting up. Made of quality materials. Saw a couple of reviews complaining about the instructions, but personally found them to be straightforward and easy to follow. Purchasing another for the office :-)

I was a little confused when opening the package because the instructions are not easy to understand, but fortunately, this product is actually not that difficult to install, our home corridor, bedroom, kitchen door can be installed, although the anchor line is protruding, it is used The gasket provided in the package is successfully installed. If you do not want to drill screw holes on the anchor line, you need to install it on the anchor line, but there will be a gap below. I also tried the stairs. Unfortunately, our staircase pillars are iron and there is no way to install them.

   This gate is possibly one of the most solid built gates I have ever seen in this price range. It is very well-made and although the brackets are made of plastic, I am not overly concerned about the structural integrity of those brackets because the gate is sturdy, heavy, and the tension puts the force and pressure into the wall. The bracket seems like a secondary pressure point. If you are overly concerned about the brackets, they could be replaced or reinforced with metal closet rod fixture ends (pole sockets) from a local hardware store. (You can easily paint them to match, etc.) I didn't bother, though, because when I installed it, the weight and tension were easy enough to protect my baby from entering areas she didn't need to be in. Cats and large dogs could easily go over this, so I wouldn't use it for that.

   I find these retractable gates often to be more complicated than they need to be, but this one is easier than the other two we have in the house. You could even open/close it with one hand, which is more than I can say for the others. The biggest thing to get used to is having to push down and twist the lock after latching the gate. Easy enough. Looks good, keeps the kid safe, I recommend it!
